Intro

Who are we and why are we doing this? 

Wandrio is built and run by a small but experienced founder team:

  • Antti & Eevi – Tech, 
  • Risto – Product & Operations,
  • Olli – Growth, and 
  • Oiva – Design.

We’ve all used various geo collection web apps for tiles and roads. Those services have motivated us to explore more, find new, interesting places, and spend more time in nature. We are standing on the shoulders of giants. 

We want to build a universal geo-collection app that improves the experience and brings it to a wider community. And of course, we want everybody to know and be amazed by where we have been. 

We start with the tile hunting, even though there are plenty of good services for hardcore tilehunters. However, our ultimate goal is to get everyone tile hunting and geo-collecting. Even those who don’t have a Strava account or a sportwatch. That’s why we are focusing on mobile phones first.

Community page

We created this page because our main community chat lives in WhatsApp, and WhatsApp isn’t great at showing history or helping new users find old answers. Things get buried fast, so this page gathers the most common questions, known issues, and feature suggestions in one place.

The app is evolving quickly, and a lot of what we do depends on Strava and other external services. That means things don’t always work perfectly yet – especially around synchronization, tiles, and maps. This FAQ explains what’s going on and how you can work around problems when they appear.

FAQ

How are private / follower-only activities handled?

Private and follower-only activities do sync into Wandrio; however, they:

  • do not count toward titles (Legend, Mayor, Finder)
  • do not appear on the global tile map
  • will not appear in future public/competitive views (leaderboards, club tile maps, etc.)

In other words, we treat privacy the same way Strava does: private activities don’t count toward public achievements like KOMs or Local Legends.

General Questions

  • Is there a web version?
    • Yes, game.wandrioapp.com
    • Yes, but it may have bugs as we use it to test some features
    • Also, UI is not currently optimized for the desktop. We are currently in mobile-first mode
  • Can I reset my password?
    • Yes, but check your spam folder, as reset emails are often flagged as spam.
      • It is a standard password email from google so it is surprising that it goes to the spam folder. We are working on it

  • Even Smaller Tile Sizes: Add support for 1/128 or 1/256 tile sizes for more detailed microtile collecting.
